Extractions

A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth; they are performed for a wide variety of reasons, including tooth decay that has destroyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable. Extraction of impacted or problematic wisdom teeth are routinely performed, as they are for some permanent teeth to make space for orthodontic treatment.

At Rizzo Dental Group we perform all types of extractions from simple extractions (such as extractions required for orthodontic spacing) to more complex surgical extractions. We also perform extractions on impacted teeth, which are teeth that are buried beneath the gum tissue. Generally we recommend the use of laughing gas when performing any type of extraction to minimize any anxiety that our patients may feel.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a “root” device, usually made of titanium, used in dentistry to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth to replace missing teeth. The bone of the jaw accepts and fuses with the titanium post.
Dental implants can be used to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges, or dentures. They can also be used as anchorage for orthodontic tooth movement.

At Rizzo Dental Group we restore all types of implants after they have been placed by an implant specialist. Typically dental implants are placed by either an Oral Surgeon or a Periodontist. During your exam at Rizzo Dental Group we would gladly refer you to the appropriate specialist to have your Implants placed. We would complete the final stage of the Implant by restoring it to the natural contours of your mouth.
